Registration Questions

  • Why is registration required?
    Registration is required to access all information for every type of participant for the fair. Each participant has a unique "personal identification number", or PIN, that allows for the easy retrieval of information.
  • I did not receive an email confirming my registration?
    Please make sure that your email software allows emails from TexasScienceFair@utsa.edu, or check with your email provider to make sure they are not blocking the emails. If your email is from work, you will need to check with you system administrator to make sure that email coming from TexasScienceFair@utsa.edu is not being blocked.
  • What is a PIN number?
    Each participant has a unique "personal identification number", or PIN, that allows for the easy retrieval of information. The PIN is the number that is printed on the Certificate you received at your regional fair awards ceremony. The number consists of 10 alphanumeric characters (i.e. 99D9F91199). The PIN is required for registration.
  • How can I change my registration information?
    Currently, participants are not permitted to change their project information after they have registered.  If you have important corrections to make, please use our contact page to let us know.  Please include the information that needs to be changed as well as the participant's PIN.
  • How can I print a confirmation ticket?
    You will need to login on the homepage. Once you are logged in you will see a small menu on the left center menu of the website. In that menu you should find a link to your confirmation ticket.
  • Is there a way to check if the project paperwork has arrived?
    Project paperwork can take several days to process, so please be patient. We expect to take up to 7 days from the day the paperwork arrives. You will need to login on the homepage. Once you are logged in you will see a small menu on the left center menu of the website. In that menu you should find a link to project status.
  • What is an ISEF Finalist?
    An ISEF finalist is a student who has already received an invitation to participate at the International Science and Engineering Fair. This only applies to Senior Division contestants.
  • What are the Project Categories for the Fair?
    You can find more information on the Project Categories at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF)
  • What costs are associated with registration?
    Contestants fee: $35.00 for registration which includes one (1) adult person to help on setup day. The registration fee includes four (4) passes for the awards ceremony. Additional Non-Contestants attending award ceremony (above the four free tickets): $5.00 per ticket by check made out to EMTSEF - UTSA.
  • Can I pay the day of the fair ?
    Yes, you can pay the day of the fair, only checks and credit cards payments will be accepted. Absolutely NO CASH can be received.

Project Setup Questions

  • How late can we arrive to set up my project?
    Please check the Schedule of Events time.  You must register on site between the times listed on the Schedule of Events, of which then you will need to set-up your project.  Display and Safety must clear your project before leaving.
  • If I bring a computer for my project do I have to leave it overnight?
    The area is secure and you may leave your laptop (although neither UTSA (the host) nor ExxonMobil and the TWC (sponsors) are responsible for any missing items). Your project will need to be completely setup and remain intact for the Display and Safety evaluation. If you select to remove your notebook computer, Display and Safety will provide a removal form for you to complete.

Judging Questions

  • How long will judging take?
    Actual time of Judging will depend on the complexity of the projects and the number of judges available. Please be patient and flexible.

General Questions

  • Can we bring food to the Convention Center?
    Sorry, outside food and drinks will NOT be permitted. You may buy a snack from the concession stand at the convention center.
